Admission to doctoral - research - studies

IF YOU WANT TO STUDY FOR A Doctoral Degree

Doctoral education require a great deal of prior knowledge. Find out below what general requirements apply and follow the links for information on the requirements specific to each faculty.

Requirements for admission to doctoral - reserach - studies include:

  • prior knowledge relevant to the subject
  • that the student is judged to have the potential to complete the programme
  • available funding for the entire period of study

Entry requirements and prior knowledge

For admission to doctoral education, you must meet both the general and the specific entry requirements. The general entry requirements are a completed second cycle degree (Master of Arts or Science) or completed courses worth at least 240 credits (of which at least 60 credits in the second cycle) or equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way.

The specific entry requirements usually refer to specific subject knowledge. Information on the prior knowledge requirements for research studies within a subject is available from the relevant faculty.
