Administrative manager Monica Pardon will receive the Lund University Administrative Prize

Administrative manager Monica Pardon, Department of Biology, will receive the Lund University Administrative Prize of 2017.

Monica Pardon is awarded SEK 15 000 for her own professional development.

The prize will be presented at the University’s annual ceremony on 28 January 2017.

From the justification:

The Department of Biology was founded on 1 January 2010 when five smaller departments/divisions were merged into one. This measure offered many potential benefits to the organisation’s teaching and research, but also an exceptional administrative challenge.

Monica has spearheaded the efforts to change and improve activities, skilfully supervising administrators who had been used to working in accordance with quite diverse and sometimes inadequate procedures, characterised by different departmental cultures. She has also managed the work of addressing a huge financial deficit of one of the smaller departments included in the merger, and clarified our occasionally complicated dealings with the faculty, between the department and the landlord, and between the administration for undergraduate studies and other administration. Whenever there has been a shortage of staff or job openings at the department, Monica, with her vast experience and versatility, has been the one to take on both major and minor operational duties as well.

Monica has made invaluable contributions as an administrative manager in this process of change which required both innovative and strategic thinking, a way with the staff, perseverance, and not least, the ability to handle an extraordinarily large amount of work.
