When the application deadline for the post of deputy vice-chancellor at Lund University passed on 14 September, 23 people had applied for or been nominated for the post.

The term of office of the deputy vice-chancellor of Lund University will expire at the end of 2026. Between 10 August and 14 September, it was possible to nominate someone for the post or to apply for it yourself. In parallel with the open recruitment process, an external recruitment agency conducted an executive search to identify suitable candidates who met the person specification.

Following the closing date for nominations and applications, a total of 23 candidates either applied for the position or were nominated. The executive search identified a further three potential candidates. The recruitment agency is now verifying that all candidates meet the requirements set out in the person specification and confirming their interest in proceeding with the recruitment process.

The next step is for the Recruitment Committee to shortlist candidates and decide who to invite to an initial interview in September.

It has already been confirmed that Erik Renström will continue as Vice-Chancellor for another three years.
