Annual academic ceremony

The annual academic ceremony is held on St Charles’ Day, the day on which the University was inaugurated in 1668.

The academic ceremony lecture will be given in English. The rest of the ceremony is held in Swedish. No advance registration required, limited seating.

16:00 Annual academic ceremony in the main University auditorium:

  • Music
  • Procession with standard-bearers
  • Speech by vice-chancellor Torbjörn von Schantz
  • Award of Lund University’s silver medal. Vice-chancellor Torbjörn von Schantz will award Lund University’s silver medal to museum director Patrick Amsellem, Skissernas museum – Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art, and museum director Per Karsten, Historical Museum
  • Ceremonial lecture by senior lecturer Nicolò Dell'Unto, Department of Archaeology and Ancient History 
  • Music
  • The University director will award the University’s administrative prize to finance administrator Johan Lind, Office of the Department of Clinical Sciences, and project manager Sara Virkelyst, Planning Unit, Office of the Vice-Chancellor 
  • The students’ unions award the Students’ Prize for teaching excellence to senior lecturer Nadja Sörgärde, Department of Business Administration 
  • Speech by the teaching excellence prize recipient Nadja Sörgärde
  • Speech by the chair of Lund University Students’ Unions, Christina Abdulahad
  • Award of the scholarship from the Karin Dahlgren Memorial Fund to theology student Claus K. Berntsen
  • Music
