An important part of this is called the perspective-based approach, which started after the review of the organisation and working methods in 2023 (as I previously explained in LU News). The aim is to ensure that our support operations are relevant, flexible and equipped to face new conditions and rapid changes.
Focus on the needs of the user
We base our perspective-based approach on the needs of the organisation, i.e. the needs of researchers, teaching staff and students. We are looking to create better conditions for cooperation, both within support activities and at the interface between support and core activities. This approach is about building a more responsive and collaborative organisation.
Activities in 2025
In 2025, we are implementing three concrete steps within the Central Administration:
- LU-knowledge – introduction for new employees, which aims to give new employees a better understanding of Lund University and how we work together.
- Training in service design: Around 40 staff members are taking part in a training programme which teaches a common approach to user-centred development work.
- Streamlining management systems: We are reviewing the systems for systematic work environment management, systematic preventive work against discrimination and sustainability to make them more user-friendly and fit for purpose at both the university-wide and operational levels.
I am leading this work alongside the heads of the faculty offices and divisions. When will we be finished? Probably never – change is a permanent state. However, we hope that the results will be evident in the day-to-day work of faculties and departments.
