Developing the central administration’s support and work

During its away day, the central administration’s management group (consisting of the heads of the faculty offices and the heads of division in the central administration) discussed the administration’s development areas – both what has been done so far and what remains to be developed.

The central administration’s plan of operations highlights the following development areas for 2020 – 2022.

  • To develop forms of internal communication between the central administration and the organisation
  • To work simply and purposefully by continuously reviewing working methods, allocation of tasks, skills requirements and forms of collaboration / utilise modern technology for automatisation, digitisation and AI where such technology is fit for purpose
  • To develop leadership, employeeship and work environment in the central administration

Among the initiatives and activities already implemented, the following were highlighted:

  • Development of a case management system - ‟A way in” to make it easier to find the right support within the administration. LDC and the Finance and HR divisions use this system
  • The Student Health Centre and Disability Support Services have developed their own digital support for students
  • Better coordination of university-wide communication to students
  • Development of a managers’ forum for better exchange of experiences and dialogue between all LU managers
  • Managers’ development in organisational and social work environment management (OSA)
  • More e-courses for independent study have been created for all University employees. They are available in the Professional Development Portal and include courses on data protection, information security, finance and HR.

Other issues that the central administration will continue to work on are better packaging and bundling of services to offer more comprehensive support based on the organisation’s needs. We will also be reviewing the University’s internal communication – how we communicate the right information in the right channels, and the use of AI and chatbots for certain questions, for example.
