Electoral College proposes Erik Renström for the position of Vice-Chancellor

Following a vote on 18 May, the Electoral College proposes Erik Renström as Vice-Chancellor of Lund University for the next three-year term. The University Board is due to make a decision in June.

Following the withdrawal of another candidate, Erik Renström was put forward to the Electoral College as the candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor. The Electoral College met on 18 May and held a vote. Following the meeting, Johan Östling, chair of the Electoral College, stated that the Electoral College proposes Erik Renström as Vice-Chancellor of Lund University for the next three-year term.

The Electoral College has now submitted its statement to the Recruitment Committee. As the next step, the Recruitment Committee will submit a proposal to the University Board concerning who is to be appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor. At its meeting on 4 and 5 June, the University Board will decide on its proposal for the post of Vice-Chancellor. It is then the Government that formally appoints the Vice-Chancellor.

How long can the Vice-Chancellor serve?

The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the Government following a proposal from the University Board. The Vice-Chancellor can be appointed for up to six years, with the possibility of two extensions of no more than three years each.
