Regarding applications for university-wide funding – interdisciplinary projects focusing on Agenda 2030 and sustainable development.

Lund University has established a research programme for excellence entailing employment of doctoral students and postdocs and focusing on Agenda 2030 and sustainable development for the period 2021-2025.

Within the framework of this programme, on 15 March 2021 the Research Board published a call for applications for funding intended for interdisciplinary projects. The open call for applications was met with broad interest and a large number of researchers applied. Three projects were awarded funding.

Information about the first call for applications is available on the Research Board’s web page.

The Research Board is now preparing a second call for applications for interdisciplinary projects within the excellence programme.

The focus of this call for applications will mainly be similar to that of the first one. The projects are to be relevant to generating new knowledge for sustainable development and Agenda 2030. Lund University is looking forward to new project applications showing innovation in terms of the University’s breadth (at least three faculties) and with the potential to develop into new high-level research environments via externally funded projects (Horizon Europe, for example).

The Research Board will revise the specific requirements and criteria in the text of the call for applications on the basis of comments received on the first round and the University management’s goals for the programme. Details on the call for applications will be clarified in the text itself when it is published. The second round of applications will allow more time for all parts of the process, including for researchers to develop their applications.

The second call for applications will be published on the Research Board’s web page in spring 2022.
