The University continues to strengthen its international impact through Global Dynamic Engagement (GDE). Ahead of 2026, the Vice-Chancellor has established new roadmaps for the geographical areas in which the University operates.

The roadmaps serve as guidance for the university-wide global work in research, education, innovation and collaboration, based on democracy and academic freedom. The focus is on a number of selected Global Hubs, i.e. geographical areas that may be a city, region, country or continent. In these areas, the University collaborates with various actors and sees particular potential for deepening and broadening its engagement.

In 2025, GDE has contributed to, among other things:

  • Strengthening relations with partners in the United Kingdom. A five-year MoU has been signed with Imperial College London and, as a complement to many years of highly successful collaboration in medicine, new collaborations with the University of Cambridge have been initiated in areas such as climate and materials science.
  • Strengthening relations with the National University of Singapore through seed funding calls that have resulted in new research projects in areas such as biotechnology, AI in medicine, and computational social sciences and humanities.
  • Establishing and further developing collaborations with actors in Global Hub Great Lakes Area, including the University of Toronto and the University of Chicago.

Roadmaps for 2026

In 2026, the focus will be on, among other things:

  • Deepening the University's work with Global hubs, with a particular emphasis on research and innovation collaborations. Among other things, the collaboration with actors in São Paulo as a new Global Hub will be developed.
  • Positioning Lund University as a fourth-generation university through partnerships linked to the Lund Innovation District and international innovation environments
  • Strengthening skills development within the university regarding global responsible engagement
  • Strengthening participation in Horizon Europe with priority partners in countries that have recently been associated or are expected to become associated to the programme in the near future.
  • Continuing to develop international impact actions in the form of seed funding calls and further developing projects and networks for increased international impact.
