We already knew that Lund University is capable of creating large, strong research environments: 11 out of the 20 existing SRAs are already present at Lund University, with 8 of them being coordinated from here. The applications we submitted at the end of last year were also all very strong, and the University covered all the specified areas.
Just in time for Easter, the results of last year’s brainstorming, conceptual work and collective effort became clear. It was a truly delightful Easter treat and a testament to the quality of the University’s research, when the Swedish Research Council recommended that Lund University participate in six of the eight new SRAs, and that two areas be coordinated from here.
Lund University is the proposed coordinating institution in the areas of Practice-oriented Professional Research on Crime, and Research on Advanced Materials, where MAX IV will play a key role. This is very gratifying. Lund is also involved in the areas of Quantum Technologies, Polar Research, Crisis Preparedness and Total Defence, as well as Excellence in School, which demonstrates the University’s breadth of expertise in areas of societal importance and current relevance.
We are now waiting for the Government's decision before we can celebrate properly, but I would still like to take this opportunity to offer my heartfelt congratulations to everyone who contributed to this joint effort.
