IT News: Microsoft 365, Teams and Luted

Two hands on a keyboard on a laptop.

A new page to help you get started with Microsoft 365, about transcription in Teams, and Luted is now working again.

Get started with Microsoft 365

Is finding your way around Microsoft 365 a bit tricky? Microsoft 365 is a digital toolkit for communicating, collaborating and applying smart solutions. But there are so many options that it can be difficult to find what you are looking for.

That is why there is now a new page under “IT, mail and telephony” that offers tips on how to get started with Microsoft 365. The page covers some of the most common apps in Microsoft 365.

You will also find tips on courses and guides: Get started with Microsoft 365 | Staff Pages.

Automatic transcription in Teams – update

Transcription can now be started automatically at every Teams meeting. As the meeting organiser, you can choose to record and transcribe a meeting, or to transcribe it only. The option to control this feature is now available.

You can disable this feature.  Instructions on how to disable transcription during a meeting is found on the Getting started with Microsoft 365 page: Collaborate and meet | Staff Pages.

Suspension of the Luted service has been lifted

The Luted tool is available to enable administrators to gain an overview and monitor ordered telephony services, and to ensure that they are charged to the correct cost centre. In Luted, for example, you can see which extensions and which telephone subscriptions are linked to a particular cost centre.

The service was suspended when we switched telephone providers earlier this spring. Now the suspension has been lifted, so it is possible to use Luted again.

Find out more about Luted on the IT website: Luted | IT website.

Exchange Web Services to be discontinued

Microsoft has announced that Exchange Web Services (EWS) is to be discontinued. EWS is an old technical connection to Exchange Online.

As a regular user, you are very unlikely to be affected by this change. Your email and calendar will not vanish.
