IT News: New data protection information in outgoing emails – update your iPhone

Man working from home on laptop.

Replies to external emails include a mandatory data protection notice. Update your iPhone to patch security vulnerabilities.

Automatic data protection information in all outgoing emails

(Text updated on 16 April)

From now on, when you reply to emails from organisations outside the University*, a short text will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the email The text reads: “When you send emails to Lund University, we process your personal data in accordance with existing legislation. To find out more about the processing of your personal data, visit the Lund University website.” The text is in both Swedish and English.

The short text is attached only once.

Generally speaking, email always involves the processing of personal data, and this information explains how Lund University complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This text was previously a recommendation but is now being made automatic and mandatory.

Internal emails within the University are not affected.

You do not need to do anything to add the data protection information, but you cannot remove it either.

  • Would you like to change your signature? A guide on how to change your signature is available at the support centre: Signature | Supportcenter (in Swedish)
