New checklist improves safety when travelling for work

Travelling on business can present challenges and risks, especially when visiting areas with heightened security risks. To ensure safe and well-planned journeys, a new checklist has been launched, providing comprehensive guidance and concrete tips when travelling on business.

The new checklist has been developed to support staff and managers in making informed risk assessments for every business trip, whether within or outside Sweden. Bringing together key information on safety regulations, travel insurance, visa requirements and IT security makes it easier to avoid unnecessary risks and comply with University guidelines.

Some tips from the checklist

When planning a trip abroad, there are several important aspects to consider:

  • Risk assessment: Identify potential threats and ensure that measures are taken to minimise risks.
  • Travel insurance: Make sure you have the right insurance cover and that you have a certificate of insurance from your department.
  • Passport and visas: Check validity periods and any requirements for your destination.
  • IT security: Minimise the amount of sensitive information you take with you and use the University's VPN service for secure connectivity.
  • Emergency contacts: Have important phone numbers for embassies, security officers and medical services readily available.
  • Group travel: If several staff members are travelling to the same location, it may be advisable to spread out the travel to reduce the risk in the event of any incidents.

The checklist serves as a comprehensive guide for all business trips, offering practical advice at every stage, from planning the trip to after you get home. Use the checklist and make sure your next trip is as safe and smooth as possible.
