New government decision on the return to work – but the established plan still applies

The university building in the evening.

On 9 September the government changed the end date for working from home from 15 September to 28 September. Since June there had been a decision that applies to the University regarding the gradual and orderly adaptation to activities without restrictions. This decision continues to apply.

The government’s instruction now applies up to and including 28 September in order to align with stage 4 of the government’s plan to ease the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Restrictions on aspects such as avoiding crowding, staying at home in case of symptoms, and good hand hygiene continue to apply until further notice

Regarding education and associated activities, the vice-chancellor’s decision of 17 June has entailed that the adaptation started at the beginning of the autumn semester.

For other organisational units an adaptation to activities without restrictions will begin on 16 September. Due to the government’s new decision to extend the instruction that as many people as possible are to work from home, it is emphasised that up to and including 28 September employees should work from home to the extent that the line manager deems it is possible when taking into account the activities and the work environment. A cautious adaptation should therefore be taken as a guideline initially.

The adaptation to activities without restrictions is to be completed by 1 November. Regarding education, in cases where there are special reasons, the adaptation may be completed by 16 January 2022 at the latest.
