New jogging tracks on campus – Lund on the Run

For many of us, moving between different parts of the campus is a natural part of the working day. There are now more opportunities to be physically active during working hours. Lund on the Run is an initiative in which several organisations in Lund have developed three jogging tracks through the city’s knowledge environments.

The initiative is a collaboration between Akademiska Hus, Lund University, Lund Municipality, Wihlborgs, AF Bostäder, the National Property Board, ESS, Medicon Village and Vectura. It aims to encourage physical activity and raise awareness of different areas of the campus and the adjacent innovation district.

The three tracks – Campus Sprint (4 km), Career Jog (6 km) and Innovation Loop (5 km) – link key areas of the University campus, Medicon Village, Science Village and Ideon.

As the tracks intersect at several points, it is easy to tailor your run. By turning off where the paths cross, you can shorten or lengthen the route and thus create a run that suits you perfectly.

“The University is participating in the initiative to enhance the campus as a cohesive and accessible environment, where there is space for both work and physical activity. We hope that the tracks will be used by both staff and students in their daily lives. When I ran parts of the route myself, it became clear just how unique and cohesive our campus area is, and that Science Village is closer than you might think,” says Veronica Gummesson, head of LU Estates and LU’s representative in the Lund on the Run initiative.

The initiative is part of a joint effort to develop our campus environment and to ensure that health, wellbeing and social values are taken into account. Physical activity can help improve health, as well as boost concentration and aid recovery.
