In our application, we EUGLOH alliance members promise to continue to develop our collaboration through new common educational initiatives and extended exchanges, both virtual and physical, for all students and all staff. Lifelong learning and the link between research and education are key factors.
It has been an exciting and interesting collaboration which has gradually taken shape. It is obvious that a higher education institution like LU should take part in the EU’s European universities initiative. We need to be active and participate in the discussions conducted at the European level, about the future of higher education in Europe. Collaborating in the European University Initiative (EUI), of which EUGLOH is a part, provides us with the opportunity for this.
EUGLOH – the European University Alliance for Global Health – is a strategic partnership between the Université Paris-Saclay, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Universidade do Porto, University of Szeged (Hungary) and Lund University. With this new application, further higher education institutions will join the alliance: the University of Hamburg, UiT the Arctic University of Norway (Tromsö), the University of Alcalá (Madrid) and the University of Novi Sad (Serbia). The alliance’s ambition is to develop interdisciplinary activities together, in particular in education, connected to challenges relating to well-being and public health. The collaboration has been ongoing for 2.5 years, and is included in the EU’s flagship programme in the educational field, entitled the European University Initiative (EUI).
By the summer, we will know whether the application, which has a total budget of just over EUR 18 million, has been approved. In the meantime, the first project period is underway with undiminished strength, including an Alliance Day and a Staff Week to be implemented in Lund in early May.
