In order to provide further support for organisations within LU in the development of new commissioned education courses, a second round of applications for strategic funds is now been initiated. The aim is to stimulate an increase in collaborations with companies, public authorities and organisations regarding their needs for professional development.

There was considerable interest in the call for applications in the spring and a number of applications were received from five of the faculties. In late June the Education Board decided to grant funds to the following three applications.

• Environmental forensics – to identify, trace and address complex environmental pollutants (Centre for Environmental and Climate Research, Faculty of Engineering – LTH)
• Process risk analysis for industry (Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering – LTH).
• Master in Public Management (Department of Business Management, School of Economics and Management).

The successful applications were particularly distinguished by clearly identified needs from wider society, well-defined target groups and highly applicability for professionals. The development phase is now starting and, in cooperation with LUCE, a business and commissioned education plan will be drawn up and implemented for each concept.

“We are very much looking forward to developing the courses with LUCE. It strengthens our ongoing initiative for commissioned education”, says Martijn van Praag.h, the lecturer at CEC who is behind the application regarding environmental forensics.

For the new round of applications, which is open between 1 September and 15 October, the Commissioned Education Advisory Board has decided to revise the amount that can be applied for to a fixed amount of SEK 150 000 per proposal. More information is available via the link below.
