The new Strategy for Education focuses on digitalisation, teaching and learning, inclusion and internationalisation. The Strategy clarifies the role of generative AI in teaching and is to strengthen the initiative for professional development in teaching and learning.

On 11 June, the University Board approved Lund University’s Strategy for First and Second-Cycle Education 2025-2027.

The Strategy is based on the University’s Platform for Strategic Work 2025-2027 and will develop prioritised areas in education over the coming years. It has been produced by the Education Board and is a revision based on the previous Strategy, which has now expired.

The Strategy fulfils an important function in the development of education at the University by providing guidance in important areas such as digitalisation, teaching and learning, inclusion and internationalisation. Compared with previous strategies, the wording is considerably more precise and it is concretised in both the Education Board’s annual plans of operations and in ongoing projects.

“One of the things I am particularly pleased about in the new Strategy is that it has a clear approach to generative AI in teaching and learning, an area in which the University really needs to take steps forward,” says Pro Vice-Chancellor Lena Eskilsson.

She also wants to emphasise the importance of continuous professional development in teaching and learning. Work in this area will be intensified over the next few years through the implementation of a framework for teaching and learning.

“I look forward to following the work on the Strategy for Education and have great expectations for how together we can develop innovative and sustainable course and degree programmes in a changing world,” says Lena Eskilsson.
