There are many rules that researchers employed by a public authority such as Lund University need to take into account. In order to help you get clarity about the many sets of rules surrounding research, the University has produced an online guide to following the rules within research. “A researcher’s guide to compliance” comprises six different themes and provides an overview of central concepts, rules, practice and legislation that a researcher needs to be aware of. Links to specialised information and directions on where to find support on various issues are also included.
An online course on good research practice and ethical issues aimed at research staff with doctoral degrees in all faculties has been developed (doctoral students already take a compulsory two-week course). The aim of the course is partly to provide orientation around legislation and guidelines concerning research ethics, and partly to demonstrate how the researcher can reflect upon ethical issues that arise during or as a result of their research. Completing the whole course takes around three hours in total. It does not need to be completed in a single sitting, it is absolutely fine to do it in instalments.
Both the compliance guide and the ethics course have been developed within the framework of the HR Excellence in Research project.
