What are the synergies and/or conflicts between preparedness and sustainable development? That is one of the key questions when researchers from Lund University meet at the annual research conference Knowledge for Sustainable Development.
Both sustainability and preparedness are essential for handling future crises, but they operate in different ways. What are the links between conflict, preparedness and sustainability? Is society forced to choose or is it possible to both strengthen our resilience in the short term and to create regenerative solutions for the future?
The conference is aimed at all researchers who wish to increase their understanding of the societal challenges that lie ahead, explore the role of research in transition and strengthen their interdisciplinary networks. Through the theme ‘Our Shared Future: Conflict and Sustainability’, the aim is to create a platform for these questions and highlight the research currently being conducted.
All researchers at Lund University are encouraged to submit their research contributions related to the topic of preparedness and sustainable development. Contributions may take the form of paper presentations, panel debates, workshops or other exploratory formats. Collaborations with colleagues from other universities as well as early-career researchers are also welcome to contribute different types of activities to the conference. The deadline for abstract submission is 22 October.
The conference will take place 9 February 2027 at Medicon Village (Scheelevägen 1) in Lund. The conference is organised by the Research Board in collaboration with the Sustainability Forum at Lund University.
