Preliminary results from Tellus – sexual harassment occurs at Lund University

Every fourth woman who responded to the Tellus survey and seven per cent of the men have been subjected to sexual harassment at some point during their employment at Lund University. It most commonly took place on university premises and the perpetrator was most often another employee.

Among the students, the numbers are slightly higher but the sexual harassment most often took place in social situations and between students. During autumn 2018 and spring 2019, the Tellus project carried out 61 individual interviews and 22 focus group discussions with employees, doctoral students and students at Lund University. In late autumn/winter 2019, a survey was sent to all staff and students at the University, which was completed by a little over 2 700 employees (including doctoral students) and 9 700 students, which equates to response rates of 34 and 32 per cent respectively.
