A review of the central administration has started

Dörrhandtag på en dörr i universitetshuset.

The University’s central administration will undergo a review of its organisation and working methods. The aim is to see how the University can work smarter to manage complex issues and respond to change. The review has been initiated by University Director Susanne Kristensson. It started on 1 March and is to be completed by 30 June 2023.

The work on the review is based on the Platform for Strategic Work, and is aimed at developing value-creating and benefit-driven administrative services based on the actual needs of the University’s core activities. The idea is that the results will lead to proposals for change. The work will be led by Karin Ekborg-Persson, head of the Strategic Development Office, together with her colleagues. Organisational researchers within the University will act as a sounding board.

The review is not about the University reducing its costs, but rather the goal is for the central administration to work smarter with the resources we have. The work covers only the administrative services within the central administration. The administrative services in the faculties are not included in the review. The work will have an international perspective, mainly towards the UK and Denmark.

Many of the issues and tasks to be addressed by the central administration are complex and span several areas of expertise. Better conditions are needed for collaboration between organisations working on similar issues to provide more coordinated support to the University.
