Salary revision for members of Saco-S 2018

The University and Saco-S have not been able to agree on the conditions for the salary revision. Unfortunately, this means that your new salary will probably be delayed.

In the meantime, your manager and you should proceed with your salary-setting appraisal, but wait with signing the confirmation of your new salary.

As the employer, we hope to reach an agreement with Saco-S as soon as possible, and apologise for any delay.

Update on the 2018 salary review


For members of Saco-S

As your employer, we want to clarify our position on the matter:

We strongly object to the claim that the University supposedly violated the agreement reached between the parties in 2015. The agreement states that the University is to conduct salary-setting appraisals in 2018, which we want to do. The agreement also states that we are to offer staff and salary-setting appraisals to our employees, as has been done.

Over the year, we have regularly met with representatives of Saco-S to discuss the University’s salary-setting work and how the salary review in 2018 is to be implemented. The parties are in relative agreement that certain things can be improved and, in broad terms, we agree on how this is to be done.

We disagree, however, on the issue of when the staff appraisals are to be conducted. Saco-S demands that they be completed by 31 December 2018 at the latest, in view of next year’s salary review. We have not agreed to this for several reasons. The University is of the opinion that the focus should be on making sure that the continuous dialogue between managers and employees continues to be of good quality, rather than focusing on when the staff appraisals are conducted.

University employees and their managers should feel safe in conducting salary-setting appraisals, and the staff appraisals are an important part of this. Therefore, we have continuously trained the managers in conducting salary-setting appraisals, and produced support materials.

However, the University cannot agree to terms that we do not believe will serve this purpose and that create stress within our organisations.

This will probably mean that your new salary will not be paid in November as was the case last year, but we are working to find a solution that causes the least possible delay for you as an employee.

For members of OFR/S and Seko

The salary review work is proceeding according to plan, with planned negotiations in October and November. The timeframe is that new salaries will be paid in December.

For unaffiliated staff

For unaffiliated staff, that is, those who are not members of a union with which the University has an agreement, the salary review will proceed as usual. Because of the situation with Saco-S, you should inform your manager that you are not a union member so that your new salary is not unnecessarily delayed. The timeframe is that new salaries will be paid in December.
