Tellus – LU's work against sexual harassment: Invitation coming soon!

Tellus is a three-year research-based project, initiated by vice-chancellor Torbjörn von Schantz, aimed at reinforcing the preventive work against sexual harassment at Lund University.

In order to achieve this goal, these efforts will be informed by obtaining comprehensive up-to-date knowledge concerning actual needs. Therefore, one of the main aspects of the project is to listen – to employees and to students at all levels, both undergraduate and doctoral students. The name of the project, Tellus, refers specifically to this.

Invitation to an interview study and focus group discussions

All employees, doctoral students and students at all other levels will soon be invited to participate in an interview study about experiences of sexual harassment at Lund University. You can sign up for the interview study if you have witnessed or been subjected to sexual harassment, if you have subjected someone else to sexual harassment or if you have acted in ways that later felt inappropriate.

All employees, doctoral students and other students will also be invited to participate in focus group discussions about sexual harassment at Lund University. You do not have to have experienced sexual harassment to participate in the group discussions.

The invitations and information about how to sign up for both studies will be sent out via email. All information collected through this project will be anonymised before it is analysed.

In order to facilitate the scheduling of the interviews, invitations will first be sent out to employees and doctoral students. A couple of weeks later the invitation will be sent out to all other students at the university.

What will the project contribute to?

The results of the interviews and focus group discussions will form the basis for the development of a university-wide survey targeting employees and students at all levels, which will be carried out during the beginning of 2019. The results from these different studies will be used as a basis for proposed measures to strengthen Lund University’s preventative work against sexual harassment. These proposed measures will be implemented and followed up in the project’s final stage.
