The search is on for a new vice-chancellor – you are welcome to nominate a candidate!
The term of office for the present vice-chancellor, Torbjörn von Schantz, ends on 31 December next year. During the autumn, a Recruitment Committee has assisted the University Board to draw up a person specification for the incoming vice-chancellor and this person specification was approved by the Board at its meeting in December.
The person specification states, among other things, that Lund University’s vice-chancellor for the next term of office is to develop the University’s education, research and external engagement and utilise the comprehensive University’s possibilities to address global challenges. Some of the keywords used in the person specification are highest quality, collegial processes and academic freedom as well as leadership, collegiality and student influence.
Lund University’s strategic plan for the period 2017–2026 is a central document for the incoming vice-chancellor to use as guidance.
The application period runs until 2 February 2020 and during this period the Recruitment Committee will accept nominations from staff and students.

- The term of office for Lund University’s vicechancellor is six years.
- Proposals for the new vicechancellor are drawn up by the University Board after consultation with the Electoral College, which consists of staff and students. The vice-chancellor is appointed by the Government. A special Recruitment Committee with members from both the University Board and the Electoral College assist the Board with the recruitment process.
