Things to consider before summer leave

Summer’s here, the sun is shining and you are about to go on leave! Use the checklist below to ensure that you are able to relax and unwind properly during your time off.

  1. Enter your annual leave in your Outlook calendar and mark yourself as absent (if you share a calendar with others).

  2. Include an auto-reply in Outlook for your period of leave. Remember to specify in your auto-reply when you expect to return and whom to contact during your absence.

  3. Include a status message in Teams for your period of leave. Click on your profile picture in Teams and select “Set status message”. Remember to specify when you expect to return and whom to contact during your absence. Under “Clear status message after” select “Custom” to set a date for when you want the status message to disappear.

  4. Enter a reference to your telephone number for your period of annual leave in the Trio telephone system. Here, you can also provide an alternative number to use during this period, which will be visible to the telephone operator working the switchboard.

  5. Delegate your authorisations in Lupin (Proceedo) and Primula to a colleague during your period of annual leave, to ensure that deliveries are signed for and invoices are paid. See the Staff Pages for instructions. Be sure to inform your colleague of any expected deliveries or invoices during the period in question, and how to manage them.

  6. Lock away your mobile phone, tablet and laptop computer (if you have such items and you have access to a safe)

  7. Don’t leave any theft-prone items on display in the room. Close blinds, if you have them, to keep out prying eyes.

  8. Empty your garbage cans, especially if they contain fruit waste or other things that may begin to smell. Remember to care for any plants, give them extra water or bring them home with you if you are going to be away for a long time.

  9. Enjoy your time off!
