Time to sign up for this year’s Lundaloppet on 14 May

Time to sign up for this year’s Lundaloppet on 14 May. As usual, Lund University treats all of its employees to the registration fee.

“This is a good example of our health promotion efforts”, says university director Susanne Kristensson.

Last year 846 people from the University signed up.

Every year Lund University and Lund Municipality compete in who can manage to get the highest number of participants. The last two years, Lund Municipality has won, so now it’s time we take revenge.

“The interest in Lundaloppet increases every year, and we have received many requests from the University before we even opened the registration form”, says Bengt Hansson from IFK Lund and manager of Lundaloppet.

You can choose to run five or ten kilometres. There is also a 5K jogging group for those who do not wish to be timed. Last year the former two laps of the 5K track was replaced by a new 10K track, which, according to Bengt Hansson, was very much appreciated. So is the case this year as well.

The track passes Gerdahallen, through the south end of the hospital area, rounds the main University building and continues down through Lundagård. There is also the 1K race “Lilla Lundaloppet” for children.

You sign up via the registration form on the Lundaloppet website, where you click on ‘Anmälan’>‘Individuell anmälan’, select English as your language, click on ‘Register now’, and then locate the University’s logo which will take you to a special registration page for University employees.

All University participants will receive a t-shirt with the LU logo. After the race, LU Service will offer participants beverages and other refreshments in a tent near the finish line at Centrala idrottsplatsen.

All participants are to first sign up individually, but they must be part of a team of five people. The best way is to team up with some of your colleagues. Then visit the website and instead click on ‘Anmälan’>‘Laganmälan’ and follow the same procedures as above to sign up the entire team. Anyone who does not have their own team will be grouped together by the organisers into appropriate teams.

There will also be a number of other events in connection with the race.

”We strive to make this into a party for the entire town by collaborating with other actors”, says Bengt Hansson.

The last day to register is 27 April.
