Time to sign up for this year’s Lundaloppet run

You can now sign up for this year’s Lundaloppet run, which will take place on 4 May. As usual, Lund University will cover the registration fee for all employees. We hope to have 1000 participants in the event.

“This is a good example of our health promotion work”, says university director Susanne Kristensson.

Last year, 965 people from the University signed up: a slight increase compared with the 961 of the previous year.

Every year, Lund University and the City of Lund compete to be the organisation with most participants signed up for the event– Det var extra många som anmälde sig, troligen på grund av 350-årsjubileet. Men nu hoppas vi få ännu fler deltagare så att vi når 1000 deltagare från Lunds universitet, säger Bengt Hansson som är Lundaloppsansvarig i IFK Lun. The top position has fluctuated back and forth between the University and the municipality over the years, with the University winning for the last two.

“The City of Lund achieved an all-time high with 1014 participants in 2016, but that record is within the University’s reach this year”, says Bengt Hansson who is responsible for the Lundaloppet run in Lund’s athletics association, IFK Lund.

Participants can sign up to run five or ten kilometres. It is also possible to take part in an untimed category over five kilometres. The ten-kilometre course enables participants to experience all sides of the city of Lund, both the better known and the less known, which has been very much appreciated, according to Bengt Hansson.

There is also a mini-course of 1 km, Lilla Lundaloppet, for children.

“Interest in Lundaloppet grows from year to year, and we have received many requests from the University even before opening for registration. The University has increased its participation steadily since (at least) 2012 – Lundaloppet has really become an institution within the University”, says Bengt Hansson

Participants register via the form on the Lundaloppet website, where they click the button for individual registration (“Anmälan/individuell anmälan”) and then select the Lund University logo to reach the special registration page for LU employees. The LU registration form is available in English.

All LU participants will get a sports shirt with the University logo. After the run, LU Service will offer drinks and refreshments in a tent on the lawn at the Central Stadium.

All participants first register individually, but they must be part of a team of at least five people. The best solution is to find colleagues with whom to form a team. You then go to the page for registering teams (“Anmälan/laganmälan”) and sign up your team there. Those who do not have a full team of their own will be assigned to teams with other participants by the organisers.

There will also be a number of peripheral events in connection with the Lundaloppet run.
“We strive to make the day into a party for the whole city, in collaboration with other stakeholders”, says Bengt Hansson.

The registration deadline is 17 April.
