When the University Board met on 5 June it decided to propose Erik Renström as Vice-Chancellor of Lund University for the next three-year term, 2027-2029.
“I am pleased that Erik Renström received strong support from the Electoral College and that the Board has unanimously decided to put him forward to the Government for the next three-year period,” says Ingrid Petersson, chair of the University Board and Recruitment Committee.
The decision is the culmination of a process that began in early autumn 2025. A Recruitment Committee under the leadership of the chair of the University Board produced a person specification, reviewed the applications and nominations, and conducted interviews.
In the end, Erik Renström was the candidate who was put forward to the Electoral College, which comprises representatives of the University’s staff and students. After the Electoral College recommended Erik Renström, he was also the Recruitment Committee’s proposal, on which the Board has now taken a position.
There is still one step left as it is, in fact, the Government that formally appoints the Vice-Chancellor.
Soon time to start the recruitment process for deputy vice-chancellor
The deputy vice-chancellor’s term of office also expires at the end of this year. The recruitment process for the deputy vice-chancellor begins on 10 August when the application and nomination period for the position opens. The application and nomination period ends on 14 September.
