Your navigators for digital education

Jennie Paldanius and Maria Hedberg are answering questions about digital education.

On 18 March, the University switched to digital education. However, already a few days prior to this, the course ‘Go online (CoVid-19)’ for LU teaching staff was launched. Now there are close to 20 people working on answering all the ‘what do I do-questions’ as teaching staff try to crack the code to digital education. Jenny Paldanius is one of the people answering the questions.

Do you have a lot to do?

“We are under the pump, working long days in a sort of standby situation. We are mostly providing support for the video conferencing program Zoom, but also for how to set up entire courses in Canvas – in which Zoom is also embedded. It is a really critical situation – this is too big for each member of teaching staff to handle by themselves.”

Do you have time to help all the teaching staff at the University?

“We are not the only ones here. There are also representatives from all faculties and from our educational development units AHU and Genombrottet who are also helping. And teaching staff are helping each other in the video room – it is a very helpful and positive atmosphere.”

What would you like to say to all the teaching staff who are in the middle of this work?

“If you are new to digital learning environments, take advantage of the support and help that is now available for different tools! There are people with experience and expertise that can help you to create a learning environment that suits you and your students in particular. You will find this support on the Staff Pages.”

How can people find you?

“On the Staff pages there is a heading ‘Information about the coronavirus’ and from there you click on ‘Support for the switch to online education’.”
