10.00-12.00 Filming your research – from the field and the lab to the audience
Lund University researchers investigate phenomena all over the world. They study butterfly migration in Australia, conduct archaeological excavations in Egypt, and attach GPS transmitters to owls in Skåne. And here in Lund, researchers are recreating historical worlds using VR, building insect arenas with artificial starry skies, and directing stem cells to grow into mini-organs.

In other words, the university has visual material that is engaging for audiences interested in science. But as a researcher, you also need to be a co-creator in the production.

Johan Nyman from Lund University’s production team will discuss how you, as a researcher, can film and take photos in the field and in the lab, and what you need to consider in terms of both technology and content. Together, we will discuss which parts of the research process are (and are not) interesting to film and photograph.

Lotte Billing, International Press Officer at Lund University, will give a short introduction with practical advice on how visual material can strengthen a pitch and facilitate collaboration with newsrooms.
