Open Access Week at Lund University

20-26 October is International Open Access Week. At Lund University, this is celebrated with a number of presentations about local open access initiatives. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. No registration, all are welcome!


When: 12-13 every day between 20th and 24th of October
Where: the stage at University Library, Helgonabacken 1

20/10 12-13: 3D scanning and metadata registration of archaeological artifacts in the open Dynamic collection  Nicolo Dell’Unto and Danilo Marco Campanaro  present the digital and open  Dynamic Collection that includes 3D scanned artifacts from nine institutions. The talk will highlight the DARKLab’s current collaboration with the University Library to scan the Ostraca Lundensia collection at Lund University Library. Ostraca are pieces of pottery with inscriptions. This talk will be given in English.  

21/10  12-13: Lund University Press: a small open access publisher with big plans – Calum Petri, appointed Publishing Director at Lund University Press in May this year will introduce the press; its publications and plans for the future. This talk will be given in Swedish.

22/10 kl 12-13:More Readers in More Places - Showing how Open Access research has a wider impact - Cameron Neylon, Advocate and researcher on open science, research systems, evaluations and communication talk about the claim that there is a value of open access for a wider audience for research than just those subscribed to content. Using access and download data for Open Access books as well as citation data he shows that open access content reaches more people in more places and that it is used and cited by a wider range of users. This talk will be given in English.  

23/10 12-13: Oikos Editorial Office – the road to 100 % OA – Johan Nilsson, executive director at Oikos Editorial Office account for how the society now worked to achieve almost 100 % open access content in their journals. This talk will be held in Swedish. 

24/10 12-13: Turning two printed anthologies about the history and development of professionalism into open online books - Kerstin Svensson, one of the editors will in a talk with Helena Tagesson Stjernberg, Social Science Faculty Library, address the process of making the books digital and their reasons for publish the books on Lund University’s platform for online book, OBLU. The conversation will be held in Swedish
