Description

Mental disorders are prevalent and one of the largest causes of disability. Among young people, suicide is globally the fourth leading cause of death and the most common in Sweden. Our research involves a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary research. Current projects examine how cognitive, psychological and healthcare-related factors are related to self-harm. We investigate the effects of interventions and treatments against different psychiatric symptoms as well as health economic aspects. Family members and loved ones to people suffering from self-harm are a vulnerable group and our group performs studies focusing on their well-being and lived experiences. We are also involved in a long-term follow-up on mental health in a population-based cohort and a study investigating medical students learning on how to manage difficult conversations using simulated patients.
