New bank for payment of salary
In May, Lund University will change its bank for salary payments from Nordea to Swedbank. This means that all employees have to make sure that they have a bank account for salary payments registered in Swedbank’s account register. The account you wish to use for receiving your salary payments needs to be registered by 6 April at the latest.
The University is changing banks because the Swedish National Debt Office, which is the central government financial administrator, has signed a new framework agreement for payment services, which entails that public authorities have been required to procure new banks.
For Lund University, the result is that Swedbank will be used for the next few years.
The University will begin to use Swedbank for salary payments in May 2023.
All employees are affected, as the change of banks affects salary payments, including employees that are on sick leave, parental leave or leave of absence as well as employeed paid by the hour and fee-recipients.
All employees need to make sure that they have a bank account for salary payments registered in Swedbank’s account register. This also applies to employees that are on sick leave, parental leave or leave of absence, and to those who already have a “salary account” at Swedbank that at present receives salary payments via the University’s current bank, Nordea.
The Swedbank account register is the same register used for the payment of electricity support (elstöd). If you have already registered an account for this, and wish to receive your salary payments on the same account, please log in and check that the account number is correct.

You can register an account from any Swedish bank
You do not need to be a Swedbank customer to register an account. Neither do you need to open an account at Swedbank. You can register an account in Swedbank’s account register from any Swedish bank.
You log in to Swedbank’s account register using Bank ID/Mobile Bank ID (or with a security token, if you are a Swedbank customer or a customer of a bank in the Sparbanken group).
Once you have logged in, you can see whether you have an existing account connection in Swedbank.
The Swedbank account register is the same register used for the payment of electricity support (elstöd). If you have already registered an account for this, and wish to receive your salary payments on the same account, please log in and check that the account number is correct.
If you wish to change or add an account connection, state the relevant bank account (which can be with any Swedish bank) and approve. "Befintlig anslutning" (existing connection) then changes automatically to the account you have changed to or added.

Never give out your private bank details via e-mail
Keep in mind that Swedbank or any other bank will never email you as an employee and ask you to provide your login details.
In order for the bank to be able to run the neccesary test before the salary payment in May, you need to make sure that your desired bank account is registered Swedbank’s account register no later than 6 April 2023.

If you do not register your account the salary is paid via a payment notice, which you can redeem online at swedbank.se/kontoregister or via designated shop agents, Swedbank bank branches or a bank in the Sparbanken group (e.g. Sparbanken Skåne. However, it is not possible to register a bank account at Sparbanken Syd, as this bank is completely independent from the other banks in the Sparbanken group).
Make sure that you have the correct postal address registered in Primula, so that the payment notice is sent to the correct address.
If you do not have e-identification with a Swedish personal identity number, you can visit one of Swedbank’s branches or a bank in the Sparbanken group (e.g. Sparbanken Skåne) and identify yourself using standard ID documents.
However, it is not possible to register a bank account at Sparbanken Syd, as this bank is completely independent from the other banks in the Sparbanken group.
If you have a coordination number, you can visit one of Swedbank’s branches or a bank in the Sparbanken group (e.g. Sparbanken Skåne) and identify yourself using standard ID documents.
However, it is not possible to register a bank account at Sparbanken Syd, as this bank is completely independent from the other banks in the Sparbanken group.
Take the right documents to the bank
It is important that you take the right documents with you to Swedbank. Take the following:
- Approved passport or national ID document issued by a country in the EU or Schengen Area.
- Register extract from the Swedish Tax Agency, which shows your coordination number.
- According to the law, Swedbank must understand how you will use the account you have with the bank. It is therefore a good idea to bring, for example, your employment contract, payslip or bank statement, or financial overview from the previous bank.
- Swedbank may need to ask you for further documentation in order to complete the application.
When the bank has all the documentation, they will contact you to inform you about the next step.
In order to register a foreign bank account for salary payments, the employee must visit a Swedbank branch, in person. This is necessary due to the bank’s ID checking procedure, among other things. A proxy is not accepted by the bank.
SUS agreement number
You need to state what is known as an SUS agreement number (SUS avtalsnummer) in order for your account to be connected to the University’s salary payments. Lund University’s SUS agreement number is 042416.
Fill in and bring the form below to the bank when registering for an foreign account.

If an account has not been registered
If a bank account for salary payments has not been registered and the employee has a Swedish address, the salary is paid via a payment notice, which you can redeem online at swedbank.se/kontoregister or via designated shop agents, Swedbank bank branches or a bank in the Sparbanken group (e.g. Sparbanken Skåne). However, it is not possible to register a bank account at Sparbanken Syd, as this bank is completely independent from the other banks in the Sparbanken group.

Make sure that you have the correct postal address registered in Primula, so that the payment notice is sent to the correct address.
If the employee does not have a Swedish address
As Swedbank does not send out payment notices abroad, you have to go to the bank (Swedbank or a bank in the Sparbanken group, i.g Sparbanken Skåne but not Sparbanken Syd), in person (due to the bank’s ID checking procedure, among other things. A proxy is not accepted by the bank) to register the foreign account in which you wish to receive your salary payment.
In exceptional cases, regarding employees who will never be in Sweden, contact the nearest HR function.
All account changes are to be made via Swedbank’s account register.

If you do not have e-identification, you can receive help with this at a Swedbank branch or a bank in the Sparbanken group. However, it is not possible to register a bank account at Sparbanken Syd, as this bank is completely independent from the other banks in the Sparbanken group.
Yes.
It is important that the personal identity number or coordination number used to register an account for salary payments at Swedbank is the same as the one registered in Primula.
For example:
In changing from a coordination number to a personal identity number, you cannot register a bank account for salary payments at Swedbank using the personal identity number and still have the coordination number in Primula.
In the case of a new number, for example changing from a coordination number to a personal identity number, a new registration must always be made in Swedbank’s account register (as matching can only be carried out regarding existing numbers).
If you have a Swedish personal identity number and Swedish BandID and want to register a Swedish bank account, you can do this in Swedbank’s account register.

If you have a Swedish personal identity number but want to register a foreign bank account, you must visit a Swedbank branch or a bank in the Sparbanken group (e.g. Sparbanken Skåne, but not Sparbanken Syd).
