Cultural Forum for Art and Science
At Lund University, there are unique opportunities to draw on arts and culture in teaching, education and research. Lecturers and researchers who wish to integrate cultural dimensions into their activities can access inspiration, guidance and support.
By contributing perspectives, methods and forms of expression that interact with scientific knowledge production, arts and culture enhance the quality of education, the relevance of research and the university's role in society. Learning in, through and with arts and culture fosters critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence and intercultural understanding, whilst contributing to well-being, inclusion and improved learning outcomes. Lund University hosts the Cultural Forum for Arts and Science, which offers guidance to lecturers and researchers on available opportunities and resources.
Lukom and collections
Lukom is the acronym for Lund University's cultural and museum activities (kultur- och museiverksamheter): the Botanical Garden, the Historical Museum, Odeum music organisation, and the Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art (Skissernas Museum). Odeum provides orchestral and choral activities for students, whilst the other three serve as vital infrastructures for education and research. Beyond making their collections accessible for both research and teaching, they offer opportunities for object-based learning, student internships (amanuens) and guiding work, alongside a rich programme of events and concerts. Please note that LU staff and international students enjoy free admission to our museums.
In addition to the Lukom collections, there are numerous collections – some unique globally – held across various faculties. All are available for lecturers and researchers to use in their work.

Arts and culture at Lund University
Several collaborations are underway between lecturers across different faculties and our cultural and arts organisations. Some involve the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, whilst others engage the museums, collections and cultural entities across Lund University. Examples include strategic collaboration initiatives, profile areas, the development of research methods and communication, as well as pedagogical approaches. Currently, an artist-in-residence programme is also taking place at the MAX IV synchrotron radiation facility.
Lund University, as a cultural university, is open to innovative collaborations, cross-disciplinary programmes, and new ways of shaping and communicating knowledge.
