contact trips outside Europe for junior researchers
The travel contributions from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation are aimed at strengthening Lund University's collaboration with universities outside Europe.
What can the travel allowance be used for?
The travel contributions should be used for contact trips to existing and new partners outside Europe. The purpose of the trips shall be to discuss, develop and plan for educational and research cooperation of strategic importance for Lund University's internationalisation.
Who can apply for funds?
Employees at Lund University - primarily junior researchers with a PhD. The application is made individually. The selection gives priority to applicants who have not previously received the Wallenberg travel grant. We aim for an even distribution of grants between the faculties.
When can I apply for the travel allowance?
Usually in November/December, with the last application date 31 January the following year. Decisions on allocated funds are made approximately four weeks after this date.

The next application period is expected to open in November 2021.
In addition to the purpose, goals and expected results, the application must state how the trip contributes to the internationalisation at Lund University in accordance with the strategic plan.

When is the travel allowance paid?
The amount granted is recorded at the respective cost centre after receiving the travel report and disbursement request.
