Financing your research studies

Doctoral education at Lund university are usually financed through employment under a doctoral studentship. It is also possible to finance your doctoral education in a different way, but it is important that funding is ensured for the entire period of the doctoral programme.

Lund University does not set up scholarships for research studies. However, doctoral education can be funded by a scholarship from an external agent, such as a municipality or a research institute.

It is important to know that the various forms of finance offer different degrees of social security.

It is the university through the current faculty and the department that decides what research should be conducted and determines how this research will be funded.
