Research output

The purpose of this module is to compile the research output (publications and expressions of artistic research) that Lund University researchers produce within the framework of their employment.

The information in the module Research output is reviewed by staff at the faculty libraries before publication and is then exported to other systems, such as SwePub. The information can also be linked via relations to other data in LUCRIS such as projects, external and internal organisations and research-related activities.

LUCRIS handles publications, but also other forms of research output. The difference between the different types of Research Output in LUCRIS, is described very thorough in LUB praxis document (NB only in Swedish at his point, see the guidelines on our side for Manuals on the Swedish site).

In LUCRIS you can register the different output types which are requested in the new SwePub guidelines and also some others. If there are any hesitations which publication type to use, please get in touch with your reviewer or the support.

FAQ about Research output

There are three ways to enter research outputs into LUCRIS:

  • Manually
  • Import from online source (databases such as Scopus, Embase, PubMed and CrossRef)
  • Import from file (in RIS- or BibTex-format)

Please see our support-site for guides or our short videos on the subject:

Import publications from online source (new tab)
- introduction on how to import research output from online sources eg. Scopus into LUCRIS.
Filmed material, needs log in with LUCAT. Uploaded 200117.

Import publications from  file (e.g Google Scholar) (new tab)
- How to use RIS- or BibTex-format from eg. Google Scholar or other databases. A way of adding publications published eg. before you started working at LU.
Filmed material, needs log in with LUCAT. Uploaded 200123.

Monthly imports from Scopus

The University Library do imports from Scopus of newly published material with at least one LU affiliated author a few times a month. The imports are not automatic but require some manual hand-laying, which means that it may be a delay in time between Scopus indexing and that it is entered into LUCRIS.

Centrally, no work is done adding any other publications not indexed in Scopus or to supplement researchers' lists in retrospect.

The Research output review process

For validation

All research output that is registered or are added manually or imported from different databases are validated before made public. This means that when an output is registered is sent For validation, after a reviewer then validated the post it will be public in the portal. Before it has been validated it only shows on the personal researcher LUCRIS web page.

After the registration and saving of the publication as For validation it is sent through the system to your responsible reviewer. The reviewer is set by the unit you have chosen under Research output managed by… (the validation is automatically assigned the department you mainly are affiliated to), but you can always contact the support when you have questions regarding your registration and validation. When the reviewer has validated your information it’s made public in the portal.

Entry in Progress

If you are not ready to send your record further in the system, but you have filled in all mandatory fields, you can save it in the location Entry in Progress instead of For validation.

If a reviewer miss important information, a submission can be sent back to you, the post will then be labeled as Entry in Progress again. You will get a message about this from LUCRIS and can go in and add missing information and then resend it for validation.

For re-validation

If you update an already validated and public record with for example a new publication date / status or a full text file the record will end up at For Re-validation for your local reviewer who can do the changes public. During this time the record is in the state of For Re-validation the post in in the portal will be the already validated post, as soon as the re-validation is done then new information will be visible in the portal.

Sometimes when importing, the system matches the wrong person, so that the wrong originator is linked to a research output. Since all publications are reviewed, this should later be corrected, but if you immediately want to report that you have been added incorrectly, you can report this from the inacurrate registration in LUCRIS.

In the list of your publications, when you move the mouse pointer over the bottom right corner of the registration you can find a gear. Click on the gear and select disclaim, you can leave a message, and send away by clicking Disclaim this content.

If you open up the entry, there is a button at the bottom of the gray bar: Disclaim this content, which works in the same way.

If you find research output in LUCRIS that you are a co-author of, but are not visible in your list or in the Research Portal, it is because the publication is not linked to you as an internal person. You can be added by using the claim function. Search for the publication, open the entry and at the bottom of the gray bar click on the Claim this content button.
