Connecting Swedish and Japanese universities through research, education and innovation

What is MIRAI 2.0?

MIRAI was a three-year collaboration between Swedish and Japanese universities during 2017-2019. The purpose of the project was to promote academic collaborations, but also contacts with financiers, authorities, industry, etc.

MIRAI 2.0 is a continuation of the collaboration during 2020-2022. Focus will continue to be on early career researchers, the academic topics ‘Ageing’, ‘Materials Science’ and ‘Sustainability’ as well as possible usage of existing large scale facilities. Additional focus will be on integrating an innovation and entrepreneurship perspective in all academic topics. A clear connection to the Sustainability Development Goals will also be part of MIRAI 2.0. Kick-off for MIRAI 2.0 will be held in Japan during 7-8 October 2020.
