IT support, error reporting, advice

Personal IT support and error management is handled by the staff at the University’s central IT office (LDC), and locally by IT staff at the faculties, departments or equivalent.

All users at Lund University have the opportunity to seek answers to many frequently asked questions regarding both computers and software on the website:

LU Support – IT support for staff

IT-support through Servicedesk

For different questions regarding IT, you can contact LU Servicedesk (in Swedish)

You will reach Servicedesk by e-mail ServiceDesk [at] lu [dot] se or on telephone 046-222 90 00.

Below you will find some examples of areas in which personal support and advice is frequently requested.

Workplace computer and installed software

Frequently asked questions about workplace computers involve, for instance, problems with the hardware or software (operating system, installed software, email client, connecting a printer/print services, etc.).

If your workplace computer is purchased for use doing work at Lund University, as a user you have the opportunity to get help through the IT organisation responsible for delivering your workplace computer.

  • If you are employed at a faculty/department or equivalent: contact your local IT organisation, or LU Servicedesk (in Swedish). Talk to your line manager about which IT organisation you can turn to.
  • If you are employed in a division or equivalent in the University-wide administration: contact LU Servicedesk (in Swedish)

Administrative systems

There are a number of “electronic resources” or administrative systems available to you. This primarily involves various types of human resources or finance administration. Most resources are accessed through a browser. Through your office (or equivalent) you receive information about and access to the administrative systems you need in your work. You can access most electronic resources using your LU account (Lucat identity). Some administrative systems require special authorisation. In such cases, the authorisation required will be stated when opening the system login.

Note that if you work outside the Lund University’s network, for example from home, you need to log in via the VPN service to reach the administrative systems. This applies to the staff administration system “Primula web”, for instance. See Remote work.

As for support on the University’s administrative systems, as a user you will find information on where to turn when you want to log in or are already logged into one of these systems.

Network connection

LDC manages all network connections at Lund University. Users can visit the LU Servicedesk for questions about network connections (in Swedish)
