The purpose of the exchange program is to offer Lund university technical and administrative staff an opportunity for 1) increased global engagement through job shadowing at Stellenbosch University, 2) increased global engagement at home by hosting a colleague from SU, and 3) professional development by comparing working methods and processes with SU.
Lund University currently collaborates with Stellenbosch University in research, teaching, student exchange, innovation and collaboration. SU is one of Lund University's global hub partners in southern Africa and is therefore prioritized for collaboration.
Implementation
You can participate in both the digital and physical parts, i.e. scheduled zoom meetings as well as job shadowing. Hosting a job shadowing at LU strengthens the learning process and the value of participating in the exchange.
An employee whose work environment/location can offer job shadowing for a colleague from SU in May 2026 will therefore be prioritized for job shadowing at SU in November. It is also possible to participate in the exchange program by only hosting a job shadowing at LU, i.e. without participating in the physical trip to Stellenbosch.
The exchange program will strive for the best possible match between participants at LU and SU and this will therefore be a factor in the selection of applicants. Previous international experience is not a requirement.
Application
Applications are made by completing the application form at no later than September 17. Notification of which applications have been granted will be sent out no later than September 29.
Funding
Lund University has been granted E+ICM funding for 8 incoming employees from Stellenbosch and is providing 8 Erasmus+ travel grants for 8 outgoing LU employees. The travel grant includes 1260 Euros in living and accommodation allowance (5 days of job shadowing + two travel days) and 1500 Euros for travel expenses. The amount will be transferred to the participant's workplace.
