An alternative way to read PDF files, and ownerless Teams groups will soon be a thing of the past.

Acrobat Reader is no longer installed automatically on your computer

Acrobat Reader is no longer automatically installed on managed computers (pre-configured work computers). This is due to changes in the agreement. Acrobat Reader is used to view PDF files.

Do the following instead:

  • If you are using a PC: Open the PDF file in the Edge browser.
  • On a Mac, Preview is usually used to view PDF files.

Use PDF/A

  • If you want to use PDF/A files in Windows, choose PDF-XChange (available in the Software Centre).
  • If you want to use PDF/A files in the Mac environment, choose Preview or Adobe Acrobat, for example.

Ownerless Teams groups – an update

Shortly before Christmas, information was shared regarding Teams groups without an owner. It is advisable for all Teams groups to have at least one owner, which is why the University is introducing measures to ensure this.

The monitoring function is now in place.

The following applies:

  • If you are a member of an ownerless team, you will receive an email asking whether you would like to become the owner of the team. Reply yes or no to the enquiry.
  • If you are not a member of a team without an owner, you will not receive any emails on the matter.
