Analyse and process

At Lund University, different disciplines have differing needs and working methods for the collection of data, processing and analysis, which makes it difficult to give general recommendations. As a researcher, you will often need to process your research data in different programs outside the normal storage solution and it is important to choose tools and methods based on contractual, security and confidentiality considerations.

Examples of tools and methods that you may need to use for processing data:

  • Software for research work
  • Proprietary Programs
  • Lab reports and lab settings
  • Data collection and transcription
  • Word processors, editors and AI tools
  • Cloud services
  • External hard drives and their management.

It is important to document how the data is managed during both processing and analysis. Describe this process clearly in the data management plan to meet the project’s requirements and reduce the risk of data loss or inadequate management. Ensure that the information is clear both for funders and for new project members who join during the course of the project.
