Libraries launch new search service in 2025

En man står och letar bland en massa böcker.

Ahead of the autumn 2025 semester, LUBcat and LUBsearch will be replaced by Finn, the library search service. Finn allows you to search both the print and electronic collections of libraries.

A beta version is already available for you to test and give feedback on. LUBcat and LUBsearch can be used as usual until the launch.

Moving to a common search system has long been discussed, to make searches easier for users. Finn was chosen based on several user surveys of possible solutions and is based on open-source software. It will eventually replace both LUBcat and LUBsearch.

There will be some changes to the beta version before the final system is launched in summer 2025. Here are some examples of the development work that will take place this spring:

  • It will be clearer how to find full text for articles and e-books, for example, and how to order/find printed books and journals. This also means that the display of copies of printed books will change.
  • The Swedish translation will be improved.
  • New advanced search.
  • Location and design of search filters.
  • Various interface improvements. Overall, there may be minor changes in the system and in the appearance of records.
