Lund University or, more specifically, teaching staff, researchers and students from the University, are behind more than 40 of the events. The arrangers come from all the faculties, as well as IIIEE, MAX IV, the Botanical Garden and Vattenhallen Science Centre. This shows the breadth of interest in, and commitment to, sustainability at LU.
The content of the programme encompasses many different subjects, from sustainable fashion to human trafficking and prostitution. And it is not just the content that is varied but also the format of the events. The items on the programme include traditional lectures and panel discussions as well as guided tours and workshops.
Among other things, there are several guided tours in the Botanical Garden and a poster exhibition at the Pufendorf Institute showing interesting examples from the faculties’ work on sustainability. There are also opportunities to talk about food waste with Lund’s waste management department or take part in a reuse workshop and at last repair something that has been broken for a long while.
Lund University would not be Lund University if part of our events did not focus on reflecting on and critically reviewing the University’s own sustainability management. There is, for example, a seminar entitled “Research Today, Sustainable Innovation Tomorrow?” and a panel debate with the title “Are the SDGs Enough? Critical Perspectives on Sustainability in Higher Education.”
All the events during Sustainability Week are open to everyone (space permitting) and admission is free. I hope to see you at one of the exciting events during Sustainability Week in Lund.
