There was an upswing in rail travel abroad due to the new agreement with Togrejse, Denmark’s largest rail travel agency. In the first six months of 2023 with the new rail travel agency, the University’s staff members purchased just over 50 Interrail passes and around 400 train tickets. These were mainly to destinations in Germany, Denmark and France, but also to other European countries as far off as Italy, Spain and Portugal. Choosing rail travel instead of air travel considerably reduces climate impact.
Due to the great interest in booking rail travel in Europe, the Division of Finances needs to renew the procurement of a specialist travel agency for rail travel in Europe in 2024. Rail travel within Sweden, like rail transfers in connection with flights, will continue to be booked through our regular travel agency, BCD.
If you wish to take part in the reference group for the procurement or have views or ideas, you are welcome to contact: maria [dot] plaschke [at] eken [dot] lu [dot] se.
