What to report?
In addition to occupational injuries and commuting accidents (accidents that occur while travelling to and from the workplace), incidents and risk observations are also to be reported. Physical and organisational and social health and safety incidents are to be reported.
Read more about the different types of events to be reported on the Staff Pages: Reporting occupational injuries and incidents
This is how it works:
Employees report what has happened by logging into the IA system. If you need help with reporting, talk to your line manager, health and safety representative or health and safety coordinator. Please report the incident as soon as possible so that it can be investigated and appropriate action taken.
Students are also to use the IA system to report incidents affecting the work environment.
Why you are to report when something abnormal happens in the workplace
- To prevent similar incidents from happening again, i.e. to prevent ill health and accidents at work.
- To eliminate risks that could lead to occupational injuries or incidents.
- To disseminate knowledge about risks to other organisations within the University in order to learn from each other.
- To provide University managers at different organisational levels with good supporting documents/statistics for identifying risks that are present in their activities.
Reporting helps to ensure that the person who may have been injured receives the right compensation in the event of an accident, commuting accident or occupational illness.
