New managers’ forum and new leadership programme

Three women sitting on the stairs.

Many very positive things are happening within management and leadership development right now. It is around a year since our new policy for academic leadership was approved, and a couple of weeks ago our new head of department programme was launched.

I am truly glad that we are now able to offer a leadership programme that is specifically aimed at heads of department.

The HR Division is now working on producing another leadership programme that will be aimed at managers of the future. I will come back to this later.

I would also like to bang the drum for our brand-new managers’ forum, which starts in October.

Chefsforum LU will be held digitally twice a year and is intended for those who have formal management responsibilities. The forum will be inspiring and progressive, while simultaneously contributing to developing leadership at Lund University and providing the opportunity for dialogue between the managers at the University and the central University Management. The first forum, taking place on 10 October, focuses on the interplay between the concepts of collegiate and academic leadership.

Students offered free, anonymous HIV and syphilis tests

More good news is the collaboration between the Student Health Centre, RFSL Rådgivningen Skåne and the Curators’ College (links) to provide students the opportunity to test themselves for HIV and syphilis quickly, anonymously and free of charge on two occasions this autumn semester.

RFSL Rådgivning Skåne is a volunteer organisation that works on health-promotion initiatives for LGBTQI people in Sweden.

CheckPoint Skåne is one of their projects, and it aims to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The primary target group is gay and bisexual men, and transgender people who have sex with men. The test uses a small blood sample from the fingertip. Results are available within a few minutes.

Time and place: 9 October and 13 November, 13:30-17:00, Kalmar Nation, Biskopsgatan 12 in Lund.
