Deadlines for applying for health promotion, medication and healthcare reimbursements

In recent years, there have been changes to the deadlines for applying for reimbursement of health promotion, medication and healthcare expenses. Because of this, we are once again sending out a reminder this year.

Health promotion benefit

You can apply for health promotion reimbursement several times a year (preferably as soon as you have used up your entire health promotion allowance of SEK 1,870) or on an ongoing basis if you buy several activities during the year or pay by direct debit. However, the last date to apply for reimbursement is 30 November. Your application needs to be fully complete in Primula by then. With this in mind, be sure to register the case in good time so that there is time to provide any supplementary documentation.

Purchases made in November and December can be reimbursed as part of the following year’s health promotion reimbursement. You must wait until the following year to apply for reimbursement, however.

Medication and healthcare expenses

Applications for reimbursement of the costs of medication may be made once a year, no later than 31 January of the following year. You are to substantiate your costs with an extract from the high-cost database (obtained from the Swedish eHealth Agency or 1177.se). Claims for reimbursement of healthcare expenses can be made several times a year, no later than two years after the cost is incurred.
