Distinguished professor grants to two researchers at Lund University

Charlotte Ling and Malin Parmar.

The Swedish Research Council has introduced a new distinguished professorship programme and the researchers Charlotte Ling and Malin Parmar have been awarded grants of SEK 50 million each over 10 years.

The aim of the distinguished professor grants programme is to create the conditions for the most outstanding researchers to conduct long-term, innovative research with great potential to achieve scientific breakthroughs.
Professors Charlotte Ling and Malin Parmar are established researchers with successful research teams in their respective fields of epigenetics and stem cell biology.

Project title Malin Parmar: Cell therapy for Parkinson’s disease – new concepts and future treatments
Project title Charlotte Ling: Epigenetics for future individually adapted therapies for type 2 diabetes.

In total, the Swedish Research Council awarded SEK 147 million to three researchers within the framework of the Distinguished Professor programme in medicine and health for 2021-2030.

Alongside Charlotte Ling and Malin Parmar at Lund University, Christian Broberger at Stockholm University was also awarded a distinguished professor grant.
